Christian formation is the lifelong process of growing in our relationship with God, self, others, and all creation.

Lifelong formation includes children, youth, and adults; people in every stage and age of their formation. Each experience in our lives can provide us with the opportunity to express our faith and continue learning through the power of the Holy Spirit and living in community. We strive to live the Way of Love as we learn about the life and ministry of Jesus.

Children’s Formation

Children are not the future of the church, they are and must be part of our churches now so that our church does have a future. We can help with curriculum, teacher training, seasonal programs and worship, and support.

Youth Ministry

The Diocese of Southwestern Virginia values the youth of our diocese. As part of a year-round ministry priority, diocesan youth engage in formation, weekend retreats, and summer mission trips.

A variety of programming choices are offered throughout the year that are designed to support the work happening at the parish level and offer opportunities for our youth to engage with other teenagers their age across southwestern Virginia.

Contact Canon Jenni Faires for more information.

Campus Ministry

The mission of our campus ministries is to welcome students of all backgrounds to join in prayer, worship, and fellowship, provide regular services in the Episcopal tradition while honoring all faith traditions and backgrounds, and encourage spiritual exploration for students and faculty.

We currently have campus ministries students at Radford University, VA Tech, W&L, VMI, Southern VA University, Randolph College, and the University of Lynchburg.

Adult Formation

The Diocese offers online adult formation from time to time including Advent Meditations and a Lenten series.
